The male great argus pheasant grows these two tremendous feathers once a year. Look them up on-line doing their mating dance. It is rather rare to find these already shed feathers in such good shape from an aviary-kept bird. The only wild bird with more massive feathers is the crested argus pheasant. Late last year, I finally figured out how to work with these entire whole feathers and still keep their wavy edges. - Chris Maynard |
