Open Air is an exhibition of plein air paintings, which are paintings typically done on sight while in nature and finished in one session. Work of this nature tends to retain gestural freshness and spontaneity due to the little time allowed for reworking. Swiftly changing light, weather, and exposure are some of the aspects artists must deal with while painting, forcing them to develop direct and innovative methods of representation. Open Air celebrates the diversity in work of this nature with five PNW artists, complimented and contrasted by Jay Shepard's stunning wood turned vessels painted in acrylic.
