Darcy Goedecke
Since a child, I have always felt a deep connection and sense of joyful bliss when I am around animals and nature. My oil and watercolor paintings are an exploration of this, and a celebration of the beauty and magic I see within the natural world and the potential within ourselves.
I find the sense of order in nature to be awe-inspiring. The symmetry of leaves, the curls in fur, the moon which controls our tides, the flowers which feed our bees and our bellies. The marriage of chaos and pattern. The grandiosity, power, and life force of this Earth.
Animals are beautiful manifestations of this. They are such stoic, wise, present, joy-seeking beings. I find them incredibly inspiring and for me, they serve as examples to meditate on and emulate in my own life.
Flowers and other natural elements such as water, starlight, and the moon I also find to be incredibly grounding and feel like magic when you really take the time to observe them. The presence, awe, and sense of okay-ness I experience when I see them is one reason I love to use them as symbols in my art.
