- On Painting Fog -

Fog gets me up early to gather materials, collapsible easel, rucksack and go chase down a wonderful place to draw. These locations are often deserted, quiet, and undisturbed by humans – especially in the early morning. I drive pumping myself up with caffeine, get to my destination, hike out into fields, up hills or out to the waters edge where I set up to work. While fog is calming, I am hurrying to catch it. This temporarily wondrous wild place is now gently bathed in water particles. It is a cloud on the surface of the earth. My solitary travel gives me an hour or two of concentrated time to work. Fog effects everything. Eagles talk softly to each other. Coyotes sit and look at me…….. they have more visual cover than usual. My visits include being with wildlife - behaving naturally and at ease.

Sherry shows her work in Seattle, Portland and Olympia.
Her work exists in many private and public collections including: Portland Community College, St Peters Hospital, Group Health of Olympia, Tacoma Community College and Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington. Her screen prints are sold worldwide. She lives with her husband in the Chehalis River Basin.
