In my work as an artist and designer, I want to create art and objects that transform daily experiences. We, as consumers, have a nearly infinite choices when it comes to choosing the objects we interact with on a daily basis. My collections are based on the idea that these objects should bring us delight and respite from the frantic pace with which we often travel.
Wood Paintings
I create these paintings by painting the surface of the wood — using plants as stencils and layering the paint until I achieve a texture I like. Then I carve away the surface to reveal the image. Each piece is framed, sealed, and ready to hang!

I grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Olympia in 2013. I am a photographer by trade, and my art is a counterbalance to that work. Although both are forms of visual communication, my photographic work focuses on telling other people's stories and my art is an introspective endeavor. One of my first loves in photography was the tactile nature of the form - sloshing film, hanging up dripping prints -- a process that has been replaced by digital photography. My artistic creations return to that tactile experience, explorations in texture and form. As an undergraduate I studied printmaking, working in monotype and etching.
My current body of work grew out of my love of printmaking and my frustration with my hand printing skills. Although I loved designing and carving wood and linoleum blocks, I was never satisfied with the printed product. I decided to change my emphasis from creating a beautiful print to creating a beautiful object.
I'm inspired by the natural landscape, the birds, plants and animals that surround us. I'm flattered when people confess they want to reach out and touch the surface, and encourage people to run a finger across the grooves my own hands carved away. My hope is that my art is accessible and beautiful - a celebration of our environment and connection to it.
